Beyond Comparison started as a simple idea: what if we just talked about the Bible, honestly, live, with no script and no pretending to have it all figured out?

I'm Gavin, and I'm not a priest, a theologian, or a scholar — just an ordinary guy who loves Jesus and wanted to reach more people with the gospel, especially living in a small town where there aren't a ton of people around to have these conversations with face to face. So I brought them online instead.

I'm joined by my co-host, Alex Ramírez. Alex and I met when he and his family moved to my hometown — I went to introduce myself, we hit it off right away, and before long we were having long conversations about faith. Alex came from a Catholic background, and when I told him about this podcast, I invited him to join me. Since then, walking through scripture together, week after week, has genuinely helped him grow deeper in his own faith — and that's really what this whole show is about.

Together, we read straight through the Bible, starting in the Gospel of John, asking real questions and having honest conversation — the kind you'd have with a friend, not a lecture. We don't always come from the exact same background, and we don't pretend every question has a tidy answer. But we show up, open the Word, and talk about it together.
